The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) named American Airlines its 2018 Corporate Honoree at the 23rd annual Eddy Awards® Nov. 8. The Eddy Awards celebrate exceptional contributions to economic development in the Los Angeles region, consistent with LAEDC’s focus on increasing shared prosperity for residents and communities.

“It’s difficult work running a successful airline operation,” American President Robert Isom said while accepting the award. “With millions of customers relying on them to take them where they need to go, our 7,300 team members at LAX perform brilliantly every day, and they’re the reason I’m standing here tonight.”

American was one of LAX’s first commercial carriers and the airline continues to grow and strengthen its presence of 70-plus years at the hub through significant direct and indirect investments in the region.

See how American has grown to become the largest domestic and international carrier at LAX today, producing a $13.4 billion total economic output in the greater L.A. area, in the video below.
