Etihad Airways' first flight using biofuel made in the UAE

The Sustainable Bioenergy Research Consortium (SBRC), a non-profit entity established by Masdar Institute that is part of Khalifa University of Science and Technology, today announced the world’s first commercial flight using locally produced sustainable fuel on an Etihad Airways Boeing 787 powered by GE’s GEnx-1B engines.

JetBlue and The Nature Conservancy Report on Impact of Natural Resources on Tourism

JetBlue, along with The Nature Conservancy, whose mission is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends, today released a new report focusing on the connection between natural resources and tourism. The report’s results revealed that the Caribbean is more dependent on tourism than any other region across the globe and highlights new data on the benefits that coral reefs provide to the travel industry and the region’s economy.

Innovative Proposal Hopes to Attract Renewable Natural Gas for Sea-Tac Airport

The Port of Seattle’s latest environmental innovation is pushing to make Seattle-Tacoma International Airport the nation’s first airport heated entirely by renewable natural gas. The Port announced a Request for Proposals last week, calling for renewable natural gas service to supply Sea-Tac Airport’s boilers and bus fueling system, which is responsible for more than 80 percent of the Port-owned emissions, replacing all of the current fossil natural gas.
