CANSO stands alongside representatives of the world’s major aviation industry associations and largest aircraft and engine makers in supporting this new long term goal which furthers an earlier industry-wide goal set in 2009.
The new target demonstrates the aviation industry’s commitment to help realise the Paris Agreement 1.5ºC goal and will be achieved by accelerated efficiency measures, energy transition and innovation across the aviation sector and in partnership with Governments around the world.
Simon Hocquard, Director General, CANSO: “Sustainability is becoming the global issue for aviation. With many environmental gains hedging on sustainable aviation fuels, hydrogen and electrification of aircraft – it is vital we fast-track air traffic management improvements while carbon-based fuels are still commonplace. CANSO and the ATM industry stands ready to play its part in meeting this ambitious goal.”
