Incheon Airport receives the 2014 Green Logistics Award

Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) revealed that Incheon International Airport won the Green Logistics Award for Institutions from the “2014 Green Logistics Award Ceremony” hosted by the Green Logistics Research Association.

Officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and heads of logistics companies participated in the “2014 Green Logistics Award Ceremony,” which took place at the IIAC main conference room on February 25. With its “Green Cargo Hub” activities that supports eco-friendly practices of the Incheon International airport, Incheon Airport’s contribution to the development of green logistics was recognized and it was selected as the candidate for Green Logistics Award.

To support the green growth of aviation logistics, Incheon Airport has been conducting Green Cargo Hub project since 2009. By providing some 400 light weight ULD (Unit Load Device) to airlines and ground handling companies until 2010, Incheon Airport reduced 28,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually. Also, until 2013 it provided 17,500 sheets of eco-friendly biodegradable air cargo packing vinyl to four ground handling companies in Incheon Airport including Korea Airport Service, covering half the purchase cost.
